Live It

Not a new one - scribbled it some time abck... today was going through some stuff adn found this...
live life in fast lane..
get on and get a high
u live once
live it till u drop dead
not from old age, but from fatigue
of dancing the whole night
of drinking the last drop of vodka from the bottle
of burning out the last drop of petrol

live life in the free way
no one to ask and no one to answer
it is your life,
live it the way you want
heed not when u hear
"Man is a social animal"
but heed to your mind
when it want to break free
don’t hold it back

travel the extra mile
climb that fence, or throw that stone
when u feel like doing it
howl at the top of your voice
do it now, when u feel

don’t ask for acceptance, don’t give any
for that they have temples and churches
don’t waste your energy, by playing games of mind
exhaustion is sweet, when it comes from ur sweat
crank up your right hand, feel the wind on your face
life is a highway,
dress for crash, not for ride
and ride like hell, or u may remain in one.

Ten Things I Dont Like About Girls

Got tagged by Veenz to write 10 things I dont like about my opposite sex - so, here goes what turns me off about girls...
[The rules of the game are:
---write 10 things u hate about the opposite sex
---at the end of the tag, tag 5 random bloggers to take up the Tag]

1. If you want something, or if you want us to understand something - say it LOUD. hints don’t work all the time. If you say 'itz ok, everything is fine' to me, it means every thing is FINE.

2. Girls who think itz shameful to talk in their mother tongue and put fake accents and mannerisms. Why on earth you want to pretend?

3. If you don’t know how to carry your makeup, don’t use it. Make up is fine - as long as you know how to carry it elegantly.

4. You are free to wear any kind of cloths. short, sleeveless, low waist - anything. But, don’t wear them if you are not comfy. don’t pull down / pull up your dress every now and then. Itz gross.

5. If you are not ready to digest our answer, don’t ask questions. When you ask us questions, don’t expect the answer you want to hear - be ready to hear what we think. And please - don’t ask for the nth time same question again and again - if I am with you, that means I like your company. If I don’t like your company, I won’t be with you - simple.

6. It is ok to get excited, but there is no need to go all out with those ugly squeaky squealy screeching noises. Conversation over food is fine, but do have little mercy on others who dine on the same place. There are places in Bangalore I never go only because I cant stand these noises.

7. If you don’t need solution and just want us to hear you, don’t tell things over and over. When you tell once, we are ready to lend you our ear. But don’t do the same mistake and again and don’t come to us expecting to get a shoulder. If there is a solution, act. Don’t just crib.

8. Shopping is fine and fun - I actually enjoy shopping, but don’t insist on us to buy pink shirts. We do have some dress sense, so, let us do our shopping. We like your choice, and love to listen to your suggestions, but don’t act like we are from 18th century and have no shopping sense.

9. If you can talk about gossip, latest breakups and all that stuff happening at Hollywood, diet control, and the other entire 1000 sundry stuff, we can talk about sports, cars, bikes and booze. Grow up and try listening to us once in a while. And oh, put some effort and try to understand our interests too. We actually do a lot of things to make you feel comfortable, so do that to us too.

10. We need to spend time with our friends. So, don’t give us that look or do senti when we are with our friends. And please - Don’t call every 10 minutes, or sms. When we are with our friends, we are with them. Thatz it.

Happy life (took at a random place between mysore and periyapatana)

Bylakuppe - Madikeri - Thalakaveri ride

itz been long time since we - me and Jeevs tasted some serious tarmac. When Balu asked me about planning a trip to Coorg, i didn't think twice. After some planning, we five guys - Me, Jubish, Balu, Arun and Abey and three bikes - Jeevs, Shadowfax (Arun's bullet) and Balu’s Unicorn set out to Coorg on Saturday early morning.

Our plan was to ride leisurely and see places. But it was just a 'plan'. Balu was on lead, and the moment he reached Bangalore Mysore highway, he opened up his throttle and set a blistering pace. Arun was not behind, and Shadowfax started devouring the almost deserted road with aplomb. I was the tail; I kept up with them, enjoying the cool breeze and wide, smooth roads. We passed Mysore by 7.15 and stopped for breakfast by 7.30.

After a filling breakfast of dosas and pathal (don’t ask me what pathal is - itz first time i see that, but it tasted good) we set out towards Kusalnagara. Me and Arun exchanged our steeds, and by 11 we reached kusalnagara, after taking some photo session stops.

We visited the golden temple and had authentic Tibetan food from kusalnagara.

After taking ample rest, we set out to madikeri. This time I took the lead and took an alternate route - the route which goes to dubare elephant camp - and we got rewarded with lot of twisties. After lot of side stand / foot pedal / break pedal scraping, we reached madikkeri by 3 and took a home to stay. We spend evening loitering around, and watched the musical fountain at Raja seat.

Sunday early morning we started from madikeri to thalakaveri, and this time also I was leading the pack. Jeevs was performing at his best, but was not really at the pink of his health, and his alternator decided to pack off. So i had to lead without headlight ( my pass beam was working, but in thick fog, too bright a beam is seldom useless) and by 8 we reached thalakaveri, after stopping at two places for photo sessions.

While riding back, I took Shadowfax and was in the mood for total ghat banging - did the whole stretch in just one hour; and both unicorns almost kept the pace but where panting. But tell you what - ghat banging on a bullet is simply a level apart. After a marathon session of ride, we stopped for lunch by 2, and reached outskirts of Bangalore by 4.30.
From there, I took BMIC corridor till bannerghatta road - arrow straight road with no traffic - it is like a race track, and Jeevs enjoyed his home stretch. To top it off, the approach road from BMIC to bannerghatta road is kind of small off-road with lot of sand pits. I really enjoyed taking Jeevs through sand and gravel. All in all, a nice ride - 2 days, five guys, 3 bikes, and 700 odd km.

My Guru

Sometimes in your life, you come across people who are so powerful that they change our life for good by just being there. When i joined Christ College for my PUC, i was carbon. five years at Christ and the experiences i had @ my life made me the carbon an uncut diamond. When Mr.Abraham Stephen saw that uncut, unpolished diamond, he took pains to polish it. That is the effect of him in my life - Meet Mr. Abraham Stephen - my dear Stephen Sir - my mentor and guru.

I met him yesterday after long four years, and boy, am I not gald. It sure feels good to see the teachers and talk to them and still know that they remember us. If it was not for teachers like him, I am sure I would never have made it to here in my life.

(Currently I am reading teh hardcopy of The Witch of Portobello)

whatta weekend...

After a maddening Friday evening at office which robbed me out an evening at LOR, i was home by late night and was looking forward for Saturday – looking forward coz if everything went according to my plans, it will be a super duper day. And boy, did it go like i planned.
I woke up early and after all my morning chores, set out by 8.15 to pick up my friend A who was in b'lore for an official visit. I was damn excited to meet A, and when i reached her place, she was all ready and without much delay, she hopped on my bike and we three - me, A and Jeevs where out in the streets, wandering aimlessly. A was kind of jittery, so I was taking Jeevs really slow, and when i got an open road, I gave A her first taste of adrenaline rush ( I hope u liked it, A). I was feeling hungry, so off we went to 'south Indies', a very fine vegetarian restaurant for a lazy Saturday morning breakfast. After a long breakfast and chat, we where on road again, and we roamed around till 1, and we both never closed our jaws. We had so much to talk between us that the time just flew like an arrow. Thanks for the really nice time with you, A.
After dropping her back, I went to meet my friend P. me and P went to some inroads of Shivajinagar to buy a pair of army boots for me, and for some sundry shopping for P. On the way back, we stopped at Lazio and had a nice steaks lunch. I dropped him back and picked up my dream air rifle. Shez a beauty - a Daws .22caliber. Will post her photo soon. After picking her up, i went to meet Shanu and together we went to attend the Indiblogger meet at Microsoft office.

Man, was the meet fun. we really had a good time (though at times we said we could have better carried some rotten tomatoes ;) ) and after meet, we met some MS guys - and man, they rock :-D especially Sandhya, Deepak and Reza (pardon me if I haven’t got the spelling correct)
Reached home late night and man, every thing went down as i planned. But Sunday was a whole another story. I had plans to go and check out a bullet first, and then take a friend to a camera shop to buy a D40 for him, but at the last moment both plans got changed and i end up at Jubi's place by 10.30. By 11.15, one more fried - Phijo - joined us, and we lazed around till evening. Had a bit of shopping to do, and on the way back dropped in to see one more friend. Man, it was a rocking weekend.

Rants...

Wish you all a very happy V day. For all the single guys and girls out there, our day will come ;-)
i thought i will write about my first road trip today - it was kid of my first date with my eternal love, but then i realized that it may be boring to rant about bikes all the time. I have two tags to do, but kind of not in a mood to do that. Just got a call from one of my good friend - she is just back from a trip to Stockholm, and is all excited about that. Plan to drop down at her pad soon to hear more stories :-) (i like to hear people talking, and i think I am a good listener).

My bro went back to Chennai after a brief visit, I took him to many places around, and we went for a small ride too. We went to roadtrip and had nice time there. Food this time was not really great, but not bad either. Itz been long time since i have been to a long ride. Next week some of my friends are riding to Coorg, and some of my friends are riding to belum caves. Not yet decided what to do. Kind of feeling lethargic.
Today work is not really hectic - am getting kind of breather windows frequently. Well, nothing else is happening, and so this rant.

A Thousand Splendid Suns

A story of family, friendship, fate and endurance - a chronicle of almost 30 years of Afghanistan,a peep into the life and sufferings of common women and above all, the craft of fine art of storytelling - The thousand splendid suns is fantastic.

Khalid Hossaini is a master of story telling. Once you start reading the book, it is very tough to put it down - the story just flows, like a small stream through a serene meadow. The book revels the transformation of Afghanistan from the cradle of art to the grave of human emotions, and offers us an insider’s view of the state of affixers of women of Afghanistan.
The book revolves around the life of Laila and Marium - two fine women from different roots, and their struggle for survival, and the journey of their life through marriage, domestic violence, foreign invasions, famine and the enduring bond of friendship, love and affection. If you like finely crafted stories, give this book a try. You wont be disappointed.

Carry on, Jeevs

One more milestone passed, on the way to home from work yesterday. Clicked it using the VGA cam of grey wolf.

Itz been almost 27 months since I met Jeevs. When i first met him, he was sitting in the showroom, waiting patiently to get his first taste of asphalt.

I took him out, gently showed him the way around, and got him acquaintance with the tarmac for the first 3K km. After that, he was ready to take whatever came - from ghat sections to drag strips, from smooth curves to trails, he never whimpered or even battled his eye.

I hope and wish we will see lot more miles together. Carry on, Jeevs.

Mistakes...

When do mistakes happen? Either when you are unaware of something or when you are overconfident that you overlook things. And when you realize that you did a mistake, what is the best thing to do? Learn a lesson and move on.
I have been riding for quite some years and after lot of kilometers of riding, i want to share two stupid mistake i did recently - the mistakes which happened as a result of sheer carelessness and overlooking of trivial facts.

Some months back, me and my friend Vikcs decided to take a breather from the hectic city life, and decided to camp out in the wilderness. Vicks was carrying the tent, sleeping bag and lot of stuff, and i was carrying knickknacks, camera and lot of other stuff. Among all these, the main stuff was water - I took two big bottles of water - around 4ltr, and without much though, I strapped the two big bottles on to Jeevs sari guard with the help of a pair of bungee chord, and I was feeling pretty smug about the carrying solution i found out.
We set out from Bangalore by 2 and on an intersection, a Tata safari guy cut the lane, and to avoid him, i braked hard. And boy, Jeevs did a dance there, and i was like 'what the hell'. I thought my rear break got locked and didn’t give it much thought at that time. Soon we found us on the highway, and we both where happily zipping at triple digit speeds. I was leading and took a wide turn at about 110kmph to found that my side of the road is blocked by a traffic barricade. The road is wide enough and under usual circumstances, a barricade like this is not at all a problem. But not that day. as i braked and tried to change my direction, i felt the rear going loose and jeevs was behaving liek hez strapped with a skateboard instead of the zappers ( Next day after the ride, I got him new Michelins instead of Zapper) .
Somehow, I managed to bring him back to the course, and then i stopped to check the rear for any wear and tear. after a through checking, i was going to start the bike and then suddenly it dawned on me - the reason of fishtailing - the culprit was the two big water bottles strapped so low - the shifting mass of water and the position of the off set weight was affecting the center of gravity. and stupid me - didn’t even think about it before smugly strapping it on.

The second incident happed before first, but it was more foolish than the first incident.

My everyday commute to office is about 15 km one day, and one stretch of it is inner ring road (IRR) from Domlur to Koramangala. Now, those who know the section will agree to me that it is a very inviting road to ride if there is no traffic. One day i was really early, and the road was almost deserted. When you enter the IRR after the Domlur flyover, you get the first turn - a lovely left hander which is followed by a wide right hand turn. After the turn, the road is straight for almost a kilometer and then you get a beautiful right hand turn and some more straight road.
On that day, when after leaving the first right hander, i saw the empty road, soon Jeevs was doing triple digit speeds.
Before I entered the last corner, an idea struck me - why don’t I try my hand at drifting Jeevs. I applied my rear break, locked the back tyre and produced a nice drift - I was happily drifting along the curve at about 80-90 kmph and suddenly the car in front of the braked hard. There was practically nothing much to do - it is stupid to break when you take a curve, insane if you are leaning, and here, I was drifting away to glory and the guy in front of me is slowing down.
I shifted down a couple of cogs, made my bike straight and squeezed past between the Ford ikon and the side wall of the road even before the ikon guy realized what is happening. Man, that was scary, and if something would have happened, it was because of my stupidity. That was the last stunt I did on a road.

Always check your basics. And don’t get comfortable – no one is invincible. Practice makes you perfect, but perfection doesn’t guarantee invincibleness. Don’t get yourself fooled by the thought that you are an expert and nothing will go wrong. Something will go wrong at some place, and it may be too late to realize it. Always have your feet in ground. – Lessons learned from my mistakes.

I am a smiling driver, are you one?

I am sure most of you who have been riding/driving for a considerable amount of time would have come across one kind or other road rage.
Chaotic traffic, idiotic lane cuttings, jam packed junctions, haphazard overtaking, continuous honking... the list goes on. Most of us would have wished at one time or other that it would have been like heaven if every one started abiding the traffic rules. How many time we wished the other fellows on the road to be more courteous and law abiding.

And what did we do for that? in most cases, sweet nothing.

When i was frustrated because of the lack of traffic sense, i decided to do a small thing - i decided to start abiding traffic rules. No signal jumping, no honking and no rush on road. Stay away from creating chaos and traffic jams.
It was indeed a pleasant surprise to me when I came across a group of guys/gals who share my same vision. They call themselves smiling drivers, and there motto - "Follow traffic rules, Be nice to others on road".
Now I am also one of them, and Jeevs sport a smilingdriver badge with proud.

If you are someone who rides/drives, take a minute and stop making rush. Start abiding traffic rules, and be little courteous to other users of road. Stay away from road rage. If you want to show the other guy/gal that you are a better driver/rider, battle it out in a rac track, not on a public road. And please don’t mix drink and drive/ride. And, wear a smile on face. Be a smiling driver.

Go to the smilingdrivers website to read more about us.

Tag of l'll madness

Sruthi tagged me to write six inconsequential things about me, but i am not sure these six quirks are inconsequal or not.
When you are a mixed bag of quirkiness, madness and sheer lunacy, you can’t expect me to do sane things all the time. I just picked up six things from a vast pool of my quirks, and here you go. But before that, the rules of this tag game:

The Rules:

Link to the person that tagged you.

Post the rules on your blog.

Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.

Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Here is my list...

1. I read paper from the last sheet.

2. I like wearing junk jewelry - almost always I will have one or two of junk jewelry on me - like rings, arm band etc.

3. My house is not that super clean, but my kitchen is. The cleanliest place in my house is my kitchen.

4. I love ice creams and chocolates and can eat them a lot. On a sitting, I can finish 1 ltr ice-cream.

5. I can laugh up on me. I do make jokes on myself and enjoy laughing.

6. I call almost all my friends with pet names.

Lena, Shanu - i will take up your tags soon. And please excuse me - i am having a crazy spell at office, so, I am not tagging any one. If any one like this little madness, please take it.
