Open the newspaper any day, and chances are that you will see some news about terror in some parts of our country.
Do you live in a shadow of terror? Do you think twice before you get out of your home? Do you think you are still ready to take that road trip / vacation / outing without some nagging worry in your mind? Would you think twice before heading to a shopping mall or a cinema hall?
I don’t. I feel safe walking down the street. I feel happy riding my bike to there and nowhere. This is MY home. Some insane lunatics can’t take this from me. If you see cockroaches in your house, do you live in a state of fear? Or do you take preventive measures to eradicate them from your space?
I agree that our country is vulnerable. I know that most of our politicians are useless and are interested only in playing poli-trics and making money.
But I will not let that knowledge plant a seed of fear in my mind.
But I know that our army will fight till their last breath before the enemy sets foot in our soil. I refuse to live in a shadow of perpetual terror - for I believe, the moment you succumb to terror, the elements who want to disrupt India wins. The ultimate aim of all the terror attacks is to make people live in a state of fear, and I refuse to be a victim.

well said, anoop...
but right now i think people are more angry than scared...and i hope they stay angry...that's a good thing if they can channelise the anger into a common direction.
@ Anoop I agree dude. Im not going to give these people the pleasure of seeing me afraid. im not afraid i will not be afraid. they are cowards and ive never backed down from challenges life has thrown at me and i wont start now. not for Cowards.
Suma - I agree anger is good, we are angry and we will see some thing worked and sorted out im not going to back down to crazy radicals and cowards when they come to my home and attack me.
I think it is important for each person to be honest about what s/he is feeling and then explore it and decide what step to take next. I feel that any fear within needs to be recognized and acknowledged. By doing that, we do not give in to terrorists. However, succumbing to fear is the unhealthy part. I like your cockroach example! In any case, I'm glad that you feel safe. When someone feels safe, s/he can try help others to feel the same. You can work together to overcome the anger and sadness - or, as Suma says, to channel those painful emotions into positive actions.
4th...damn...but its ok...
anyway, i must tell u reading this post of urs has left me gaping at the screen with my jaw dropped...u know why? cuz just when u told me ur new post was out, i was about to talk to u about something i was feeling - fear...will mail u abt it...
Just lemme tell u, ur post was rite on time for me...and it really has made a difference...
I refuse too. I have never been fazed down by such incidents. Even if they may have made me cry looking at the devastation.
thats the spirit! and a right one at that.. Nobody can dare to scare you in your own country. Noone can dare to make you fear.. In the end that what they want and if they dont get it, they will leave defeated!
AGREE TO U.
ths terrorists can nver break us apart.
TERROR CAN'T KILL THE SPIRIT.
As long as the confidence exists in us, i'm sure we collectively can fight this fear away....
Its going to be tough, might be a long time, but nevertheless..can be done...
We do not just give up
iam just plain pissed off...but iam also noticing some amazing changes...noticed that this didnt erupt into a communal flare up?...we are maturing...thts a great sign...i think we are getting there...
iam really hoping tht military training is made compulsary for a year once our children reaches 18...
no way will i live in terror....atleast u should have that boldness and freedom in ur own county rite....IT is MY home after all......Ohh ya united must everyone stand against such asses...
Hmm..well i dont think the people IN india are scare much..they havn't changed their lifestyle or habits coz of this attack or the ones before..they might discuss n rant abt how unsafe the world is..but they havn't changed anything.
As for the the Desis out of India..speaking for myself..ya my lifestyle hasnt changed either..but i definetly worry more abt near n dear ones in India
I think the common feeling is anger n mabbe we are all in denial but the fact is we all feel helpless n clueless abt wat can be done.
agreed. i dont think abt blasts and all the terror before stepping ut of home, never...
but the problem exists xh. when things happen, you realize how vulnerable u are ... its nt a gud feeling-seriusly
i agree... life has to go on and by scumbling to terror we are making them achieve their goal and that will never happen... we together will fight back
That was an encouraging post!
I wont deny that I have been scared since last wednesday. At times, I am ashamed to say, I even think of leaving Mumbai. :(
But your post has left me feeling good. You are right. We should not let THEM have the satisfaction of breaking us!
I am looking fwd to new reforms in our govt now! Lets be positive.
i refuse too
u made a point thr man!
we shall not bow before these spineless cowards. We'll fight back.
If we find coakroaches in our house, we just kill 'em all..
and then go to the home of the coakroach and smoke the rest of 'em out too
hope u got wat i meant:D
nice thought-wave there.. really!
n well, i guess, if anyone's destined to go someday, they go that day.. no protection can really help!
might as well live life to the fullest, while you're at it :)
agree largely. however, we need to be aware of the thin line between refusal and denial. Those directly affected by terror can neither refuse nor deny. So i join your cause and refuse too, but we also need to do...do something in our own way to mitigate such events in the future...
What do we do?
its a defeatist attitude
but
i feel do we have a chice in all this mayhem...
the sad and scary fact is that we are extremely vulnerable to all these attacks...
i sound depressing....i know
Think this is the 5th blog I read today about terrorism..Hope we dont forget this so soon..
Yes, Anoop You are right. It is battle of mindset. We have to be fearless and carry on with our lives to win this.
Every person is born with death so why fear death?
I agree with you so much.
The real way is to LIVE without Fear. Mourn but move on and most importantly FIGHT back.
Cheers
preeti
So true !! what waste to live in fear all times ... one should be careful but not fearful :)
terrorizing people is what their objective is all about. Not just their first hand victims, but the rest of the world that they siege with their acts of terror, which is their bigger objective.
refusing to succumb to it, is the best way to beat it, though ironically, that's the only option available.
